Produktong Lokal 2024: A Taste of Filipino Excellence is a Business Pitching Competition that revolves around the integration of knowledge, skills, creativity, and tourism and hospitality industry relevance. By challenging students to create a feasible US-based Filipino-themed food business, the competition serves as a comprehensive experience, preparing them for the ever-evolving Tourism and Hospitality industry.

Here are the mechanics for the competition:

MECHANICS

(1st Saturday Session) Orientation/Panel Discussion

  1. There shall be 4 participants per team. It can be comprised of both Tourism/Hospitality Management students.
  2. There can be 3 entries per Institution/university.
  3. All members of the team shall be members of JTHMAP. 
  4. The team shall attend both Saturday sessions. Failure to do so may result in disqualification
  5. The team shall come up with an innovative food business idea that will be based in the US. The business shall be Filipino-themed and shall showcase authentic Filipino products. 
  6. The first Saturday session will be a Panel Discussion with esteemed speakers.
  7. All teams are expected to be as participative as possible in the group discussion and shall prepare their inquiries and thoughts.

(2nd Saturday Session) Competition Proper/Awarding

  1. The second session shall be the competition proper and awarding.
  2. All entries will be screened first and only the Top 10 teams will be given the chance to present their Business Idea for the 2nd Saturday.
  3. The presentation will be inspired by the famous American TV show “Shark Tank”.
  4. Each team shall be given a total of 15 minutes for their presentation, 5 minutes of which will be allotted for the question and answer portion. Exceeding this time limit will result in a deduction in their points.
  5. The team shall prepare a PowerPoint Presentation following the format that will be given by the organizers.
  6. All data that will be presented, shall be as realistic as possible.
  7. All presentations will be a property of JTHMAP upon submission.
